Qualification objective of the module
• Acquire and train skills on how conduct own small-scale scientific project and write it down as a bachelor thesis
• Gain a deeper understanding of the scientific work
• Acquire skills in scientific presentation and discussion
Workload
1 ECTS (15 h attendance time; 15 h own work)
Calculation basis: 15 weeks in a semester, including an examination week; each SWS corresponds to 60 minutes.

The course utilizes blended learning approaches. Classroom activities will be complemented with handouts and e-learning modules. The course also intends to host a motivating external guest lecture/presentation from the topical area of current student theses. Guest speakers are either distinguished researchers or managers with first-hand experience in digital transformation in companies or in the planning of production and logistic systems.

Kommentar/Beschreibung

The module trains the respective skills and provides theoretical reflection on the following aspects:
• How to conduct scientific research of different types (e.g., systematic literature reviews, systematic evaluation of strengths and weaknesses of the designed solution approaches, how to collect data in the field and formulate a convincing case study),
• How to write a scientific paper,
• How to utilize some useful software, relevant to the current student theses (e.g., Latex, Jabref),
• How to present and discuss the results of own research,
• How to conduct scientific discussions.
