Doctoral students are expected to come to each class prepared and ready to participate actively in discussion. This means reading the assigned articles carefully and thinking critically about the ideas and concepts they present. Thorough analysis of the readings will often require multiple readings. You should understand the objectives, theoretical arguments, and logic of each paper in sufficient depth to discuss and critique it thoughtfully during class.

Qualifikationsziele
The objective of this workshop is to help doctoral students develop a foundation for conducting research in Information Systems, placing particular interest on the critical role of theory in conducting research. Theories are used to help design a research question, guide the selection of relevant data, interpret the data, and propose explanations of the underlying causes or influences of observed phenomena.
