_
Much of the quantitative research in management and social sciences deals with latent constructs – their operationalization, and their inter-relationships. The Seminar course on Measure/Scale Development intends to take a focused approach to developing new measures by operationalizing and testing their inter-relationships. The course is inspired by the philosophy that anything that can be measured can be managed effectively.
In this course we will start from an abstract phenomenon (or concept), define its meaning, and scope, learn to develop items that capture its unique aspects. We will also learn to refine the measure/scale and establish its reliability and validity through a multi-stage scientific process.
