Description of Course Goals and Expected Outcomes: Upon completion of the course, students will be able to: 1. Understand the core components of theory development and define what theory is (and what it is not). 2. Identify different types of theoretical contributions and approaches to achieve them. 3. Develop skills in writing theory, particularly in terms of developing an interesting and compelling story that either builds new theory or extends existing theory. 4. Critically evaluate prior empirical management and organizational research from a theoretical perspective. 5. Assess the development and writing of theory in their own PhD projects. |
