Kommentar/Beschreibung

In this course you will learn the basics that are necessary for a solid Excel basis. No previous Excel knowledge is necessary. The course is very practically oriented, so that all theoretical contents can be directly applied and trained in practical exercises.

Contents:

Introduction to Excel and the basics of spreadsheets
Changing, moving and deleting cell contents
Cell formatting
Working with relative & absolute, as well as inter-tabular cell references
Working with formulas (including basic functions such as the sum function): Rounding/shortening, dates/times, if-functions, V-Lookup, X-Lookup, text functions)
Data processing, cleansing and visualization using correctly selected diagrams
Basics of pivot tables
Selected examples of functions

There will be various exercises for all the topics mentioned, which will be worked on together in the course.

Learning objectives:
The students ...

navigate confidently through the MS Excel program
work efficiently by using keyboard shortcuts
calculate with formulas and learn the difference between relative, absolute, mixed and inter-tabular references in order to use them correctly in a given situation
create clarity through formatting, filters and sorting
can analyze data and visualize it using suitable diagrams - taking into account the respective advantages, possible uses and limitations
are able to solve frequently occurring challenges in working with Microsoft Excel independently beyond the exercises
