Political journalism carries an inbuilt contradiction between the claim to universal objectivity and national specificity which calls on the profession to veil its bias and national situatedness through discourses of professionalism that both guide journalistic practice and act as moral cover.
Media convergence maps a new territory for politics, though it also raises questions about the national boundaries within which the political realm has traditionally been cast. As such, politics has become increasingly mediatized, though the process of mediatisation itself has not yet been properly addressed and understood.
The course offers students the professional and academic relevant orientation and learning regarding how to report on different crises including war and conflict, organizational reputation, political scandals etc.
