Englischsprachige Veranstaltung gleichbedeutend zu "Soft Skills im IT-Umfeld"

Learning objectives:
Students will be able to

apply their computer science expertise to a business driven case study
analyse and present complex contents and problems of a typical case study in a structured manner
anticipate and solve communication challenges when interacting with different stakeholder groups
handle demanding situations while facing clients or within teams

Contents:
Soft skills are becoming increasingly more important in most daily working environments. The seminar will enable participants to develop an understanding of the crucial role that soft skills play in human interactions. The selected contents and examples will be related to the IT industry and consulting reality.
In the first day, students will be dealing with different methods of analyzing, evaluating and solving challenges in a typical case study. Participants will form teams during the second day and learn how to handle everyday conflict situations. The importance of individual identity profiles, cultural diversity, gender equality and complementary feedback techniques will be illustrated.
In day 3, the session will focus on Presentation skills (intonation, gestures, posture, and moderation techniques). Presentations in front of the group will be followed by a video analysis and offers of direct feedback in a safe environment.
The seminar will be completed on day 4 by preparing and presenting each team’s solution to the case study example. The presentation will be a simulated client situation and lasts for 45 minutes (including questions). It requires each student to present a part of the team’s solution. The degree of soft skill related concepts applied by each student during the presentation forms the basis of the seminar evaluation.
